Vivian, an insecure Brazilian teenager comes to live with her favorite cousin Jean Charles in London. He has already carved out a comfortable life for himself there; she hopes to quickly do the same. It is July 2005 and suicide bombers suddenly attack London’s public transit system killing 52 people, requiring a security escalation to the highest terror alert. Fear and paranoia spread like wildfire, engulfing the city as police struggle to cope. Co-written and directed by Henrique Goldman (Princesa, Goodbye Muzungo) and executive produced by director Steven Frears (The Queen, Dirty Pretty Things, High Fidelity), this drama which expertly recreates that summer’s unbearable tension and panic relays the tragic story of these two foreigners caught in the crossfire:  Jean Charles de Menézes, an innocent Brazilian man misidentified as a terrorist who is shot down by police and his cousin Vivian, whose new life is irretrievably shattered in an instant.
